Following Kish Hirani, Sony Europe head of the developers, the functionality will be available shortly on the existing hardware, with the developer libraries available for games studios, so they do not need special encoding for the new system.

According to Hirani, the technology will be able to “recognize, sex and age of the face, separate facial features like nose, eyes and ears, and also detect whether you smile or not.” Sounds a little too good to be true.
